GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - The Graves County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to be aware of another call scam.

On May 14, detectives say scammers were calling residents in Graves County and claiming to be with the sheriff’s office.

The caller ID on the call-back number showed Mayfield, Ky. 270-356-8170.

Detectives say when you call the number, it goes to a computer prompt with a list of numbers that would direct you to special units in the department. One example included an unknown caller advising you to come to the sheriff’s office for fingerprints and referenced you being on the sex offender registry.

Currently, detectives say there has not been an incident where personal identification or money was given to the scammer.

The sheriff’s office said they do not call residents for personal information and the number listed is not a working number for the agency.

Detectives are investigating the complaints.
