CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The home of the Redhawks football team could be getting some upgrades in the future. Athletic Director Brady Barke says Southeast Missouri State University is starting to look at what kind of improvements can be made to Houck Stadium.
Right now, there are no concrete plans on what will be done, but with the stadium nearing its 90th year, Barke says repairs need to be made. As for financing, Barke says Southeast will likely need help to pay for the project.
“We are going to have to look at ways we can generate revenue within this facility, and what type of private support we can get. This is largely one of those things that I think we 're going to have to get some support from outside the institution,” said Director of Athletics Brady Barke.
Barke says the first step is to find an architecture firm who can present ideas on what the future at Houck Stadium would look like.
He says that could take three to six months, and it could be two years before any work begins.
