CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The Southeast Missouri State University Sundancers recently won their first-ever Dance Team Union (DTU) College National Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Sundancers earned a 94.54 score, the highest in program history. The team beat the University of Toledo.

The team also defeated Baylor and Western Kentucky to win the DTU “Battle” which features all first-place teams in their category. The Sundancers were awarded an all-expense paid trip to Orlando to recruit dancers at the DTU High School Nationals next February.

“It was unbelievable being able to come together as a team and record our highest score in program history,” said Coach Tatianna Parham. “We have a special team in terms of talent. Finding a way to build on that talent and become a championship team is quite a unique feat, one that I am incredibly proud of.”

Join the Sundancers for a reception at Dogwood Social House on May 1 at 6 p.m. in Cape Girardeau.
