Man found hiding in basement after escaping cruiser headed to Graves Co. Jail

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A man who escaped while being transported to jail in the early morning hours of Friday, April 19 has been captured.

Dustin McReynolds, 26, of Mayfield, was being transported to the Graves County, Ky. Jail when he kicked out the rear door window of the police cruiser and fled on foot.

He took off near Megan Drive, still in handcuffs. He was also under the influence of drugs at the time of his escape, but was not armed.

After a tip came in to police, he was later found hiding in the basement of a home on High Street. He was taken into custody sometime after 3 p.m.

McReynolds was charged with Escape 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, and Theft by Unlawful Taking, under $500, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Trafficking in a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine Greater than Two Grams, Second Offense.
