4 arrested for the unlawful taking of 114 bass in IL
JACKSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - An investigation by officers with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police led to the arrest of four people.
According to officials, the subjects were arrested for the unlawful take of 114 bass, in Jackson County.
Officials said they received information of three people, allegedly fishing Burning Star Fish and Wildlife Area.
At a nearby private lake and officials said they identified distinguishing features.
Officers said they contacted the landowner who said the individuals did not have permission to fish the lake.
After interviewing the subjects, officials cited them for fishing without consent of landowner and unlawful take of 76 largemouth bass.

Officials conducted a follow up investigations, which revealed another subject who took 38 largemouth bass from the Burning Star property. That subject was cited for unlawful take of 38 bass.

The subjects were also issued various warnings and face potential civil charges for the restitution of the fish.
Officials said the value of the bass is $456 according to statute.
