MO AG asks for opioid addiction stories

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt \announced a new initiative agianist opioid manufacturers in Cape Girardeau on Tuesday, April 16.

Schmitt says it will “help bolster the State of Missouri’s lawsuit against three opioids manufacturers.”

“Real Opioid Pain” is initiative that asks those who have been affected by opioids to share their story through the website,

Missouri State Representative Holly Rehder (R-148) spoke about how opioids have affected communities in southeast Missouri.

“I’ve seen opioid addiction firsthand, and I know what the opioid crisis has done to families, neighborhoods, and communities in Southeast Missouri and across the state," said Rehder. "Addiction has been stigmatized in a way that makes it harder for people to seek treatment or come forward to share their story.

Residents may be chosen to be used as witnesses in the lawsuit to bolster the case against the opioid manufacturers.
