Deputies: Man starts fire after argument, arrested for arson

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - On Saturday, April 13 deputies said they responded to a fire along with detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department.

According to deputies they responded to 115 Fisher Boulevard in the Reidland area. They were told the fire was allegedly intentionally set inside of an apartment bedroom.

Deputies and detectives gathered information from witnesses at the scene indicating that 28-year-old Jonathon Owen of Paducah had set fire to items inside of the apartment after a dispute with a roommate and family members.

Owen was charged with first-degree arson, a class A felony and eight counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, a class D felony.

Deputies said Owen was found near the residence shortly after the initial call to law enforcement. He was interviewed by detectives and he gave an account of his involvement in the incident.

The case is still under investigation and further charges are possible according to deputies.
