ILLINOIS (KFVS) - Drivers are being tickets five times more than last year for not moving over for first responders.
According to Illinois State Police, 1,405 tickets have been issued for Scott’s Law so far in 2019. A total of 250 tickets were issued for the same period in 2018.
ISP says roadway safety is the goal. They are using a media campaign, but “clearly some are not getting it" according to a Facebook post.
State Police also say the law is to protect everyone from first responders to the driver with a flat tire on their car on the side of the road.
