I-57 semi fire in Union County closes one lane

UNION COUNTY , IL (KFVS) - One lane of Interstate 57 in Union County, Illinois was closed after a semi truck caught fire on Thursday, April 11.

It happned around 3 p.m. The road reopened around 10:30 p.m.

According to Illinois State Police District 22 in Ullin, it was at mile post 22 south of Dongola.

State Trooper Greg Miller said one lane was closed at the while they wait for the semi to be removed.

There were no injuries. He said the fire started in the rear axle and the driver was able to pull over and tried to put the fire out.

The driver couldn’t so he called emergency officials.
