MDC: Trout opener kicks off with MO Governor in attendance

MISSOURI (KFVS) - When the siren sounded in Missouri, trout fishermen cast their lines into the water.

Missouri Governor Mike Parsons was in attendance.

He and the Missouri Department of Conservation Director Sarah Pauley kicked off the opener on Facebook Live.

Director Pauley said workers stocked the spring branch with 7500 trout.

She said Bennett Spring Hatchery will produce and stock more than 33,000 trout for anglers in the area and an additional 35,00 for other statewide stockings.

Trout season started around 6:30 a.m. on March 1. Watch the video below:
