CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - Southern Illinois University held the second annual Black Business Expo on Wednesday, February 27.

It’s an event that brought together men and women from 30 different businesses from around the southern Illinois community.

The event was held to encourage and bring together entrepreneurs.

Naomi Tolbert spoke about the importance of the event.

“It's important to put black businesses in the forefront for us in particular because of the historical disadvantages that black businesses have faced within Carbondale,” she said. “So being able to shed a light on that but then also shed light on those that do exist and do have businesses here in Carbondale”

Businesses at the event included everything from entrepreneurs with their own clothing lines, non-profits, food, and technology.
