First Alert Saturday Morning Outlook

Another shot at (light) precipitation tonight....

Precipitation has ended but it will be an icy morning following our snow/sleet/freezing rain event. Not much melting this morning with daybreak air temps mostly in the 20s…but hopefully enough February sun angle to start some melting by late morning especially on roads, sidewalks, etc. Highs this afternoon will struggle to get much above freezing, however, with extensive snow and ice cover in many areas. Next up is a very weak system that will clip the region tonight into Sunday morning. This will bring some patchy light precip to the region overnight…that could fall as a light wintry mix in MO and IL…mainly just cool rain in the Bootheel, KY and TN. Some minor accumulations are possible especially northwestern counties…where advisories have been issued. Some light precip could bleed over into a dreary Sunday morning…but Sunday will bring more melting as afternoon temps get into the 40s.

The upcoming week looks seasonably cool and a bit active…with occasional rain chances and gradually moderating temperatures. After a cold but dry start to the work week…it looks like another chance of some light rain Tuesday night into Wednesday morning…and again Thursday night into Friday morning. Hopefully these systems will remain weak as we’ve got extremely wet conditions right now.
