A weak warm front will be lifting up from the southwest overnight…bringing a chance of some patchy very light precipitation to the area. Normally this would not be an issue…but with cold surface temps this precip could fall as a light but icy mix in parts of MO and IL, where it will likely be a degree or two below freezing. Farther south and east into KY, TN and the Bootheel…temps will likely stay above freezing (barely) so just some light rain or drizzle is expected. Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for parts of MO and IL. A little light rain or drizzle could linger into Sunday morning…especially in KY and TN….otherwise tomorrow is looking a touch ‘warmer’ but a bit dreary with mostly cloudy and damp conditions.
The week ahead looks pretty typical for mid to late February: a bit unsettled with seasonably chilly conditions overall. After a shot of cold but dry air to start the work week….a shot of moderate and unneeded rain looks likely from Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night. Later in the week we should finally start to warm up again, but new models this morning are hinting at a wet and possibly stormy system with rain and possible thunderstorms about next Saturday. This may have to be watched for a heavy rain/strong storm potential.
