ISP: Pedestrian seriously injured after being hit by car
Officials said the pedestrian was standing at his mailbox when he was hit.

MASSAC COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - A person suffered serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle according to Illinois State Police.

Officials said it happened at Mt. Missouri Rd at the 1/2 mile marker east of Country Club Rd. in Massac County, Illinois.

This was on Monday, Feb. 11 at 6:50 a.m.

According to state police, a 2007 GMC Yukon XL driven by a 28-year-old male of Dongola Illinois was headed west on the roadway.

The driver struck a 39-year-old male of Metropolis, Illinois according to state police.

Officials said the pedestrian was standing at his mailbox when he was hit.

Massac County EMS took the pedestrian to an out of state hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials said the driver was uninjured.

Charges are pending.
