Deadly crash investigation ongoing, Benton Rd. in McCracken Co., KY open
Deputies report that Benton Rd is back open after a deadly crash on Monday, February 11.

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Deputies report that Benton Rd is back open after a deadly crash on Monday, February 11.

McCracken County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 4500 block of Benton Road, between Pugh Road and Beckham Avenue at the Clarks River Bridge, for a two-vehicle crash.

They say the preliminary investigation showed that, for an unknown reason, a vehicle drifted into the path of another vehicle and hit it head-on.

The driver of the first vehicle, 23-year-old Tanner Howard, of Paducah, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say the driver of the second vehicle, 63-year-old Sandra Cash, of Paducah, was taken to an area hospital and later transferred to a Nashville hospital.

According to the sheriff’s office, an accident reconstructionist was on scene conducting an ongoing investigation. The road was closed for about three hours while deputies investigated.

The sheriff’s office was assisted on scene by Reidland-Farley Fire Department, McCracken County DES, Mercy Ambulance Service, McCracken County Coroner’s Office and Speedy’s Wrecker Service.
