MARION, IL (KFVS) - Illinois State Representatives Terri Bryant, Dave Severin and Patrick Windhorst hosted a town hall/listening session on Monday, February 4.
It was at the Midwest Event Center on Route 37 in Marion from 6-7 p.m.
Issues discussed included: abortion, gun control, progressive tax proposal, job creation, legalized recreational marijuana and other topics.
They felt it was important because they are all back in session for the first full week this year, and are beginning to see what Governor JB Pritzker is trying to do for the citizens of Illinois.
The three elected officials wanted to hear from the people so they could take the people of southern Illinois opinions and ideas and share those with others in the Capitol.
State Representative Terri Bryant spoke about why holding the town hall was so important.
“Just because a governor wins by a large margin of those that voted doesn’t mean that everyone agrees with that agenda,” said Bryant. “So even though we sit in the minority right now, there’s great power and show other legislators, that there is a real push in an opposite direction of what they think.”
