Clouds will be sticking around through the day today, although if we are lucky enough some areas may see a few peaks of sun. That will help warm some areas up a few degrees more. High temperatures will range in the 40s.
All eyes are our next system moving in late this evening. Rain, heavy at times, and possible lightning/thunder will move through into early Saturday morning. This could bring an 1” of rain in most areas. Cooler air moves in during the early afternoon which will change rain over to snow. Heavier snow bands could cause quick accumulations on surfaces. Snow accumulations looks to be 1-2” across our central and northern counties. There could be isolated higher amounts with a heavier band somewhere in our northern counties. A main concern will be travel conditions Saturday and Sunday. With very cold air moving into the Heartland and moisture on the surface, there is potential for black ice to form. Blustery conditions will stick around during the weekend with possible wind gusts as high as 40mph.
Feel like temps Sunday morning will range from the single to low double digits. Most areas will be feeling like the teens in the afternoon. Our next wintry system looks to move in Tuesday night into Wednesday.
