CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The Better Business Bureau is warning small businesses of a scam happening in the Heartland.
A business in Poplar Bluff reported a company claiming to be the Yellow Pages said they were late on a payment and needed to pay immediately.
Luckily, they realized the so-called company was based in Germany and knew it was a scam.
According to the BBB, this particular scam has been making the rounds since 2014.
“They’ve contacted the company and told them that they never signed up for these and they’re not going to pay them and that’s what we really want to get across. Don’t send money to something you have questions about or didn’t sign up for because this is a very popular small business scam,” said Whitney Quick, regional director of the BBB.
