Cape Girardeau man sentenced to 15 years for possessing firearm

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - A Cape Girardeau man was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison on Tuesday, Jan. 15.

According to court documents, 26-year-old Kyle T. Wade was in the backseat of a vehicle that was pulled over for a traffic violation in Cape Girardeau last June.

As officers were in the process of the traffic stop, Wade attempted to flee from the scene on foot.

He was apprehended moments later and officers found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol from the backseat.

Wade was prohibited from possessing any firearms because he is a convicted felon.

His criminal history includes felony convictions for unlawful use of a weapon and several drug-trafficking crime.
