Pedestrian hit by delivery vehicle in Carbondale, IL
Carbondale Police are investigating a crash involving a pedestrian and a delivery vehicle.

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - Officials in Carbondale, Illinois said they responded to a call about a pedestrian and vehicle collision.

Police said at 9:29 p.m. on Jan. 8 police were called to the 500 block South Wall Street.

While police investigated, they said they learned that a vehicle was traveling northbound in the roadway when it struck a man as he attempted to cross the street on foot.

The man’s name is not being released at this time. He was taken to an area hospital for life threatening injuries. He was later flown out to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri for further treatment, police said.

Police said the vehicle’s driver was not injured. Any possible charges will be pending the outcome of the investigation.

According to officials with Insomnia Cookies, one of their delivery drivers was involved in the crash. This is the statement Insomnia Cookies has released to Heartland News:
