MARION, IL (KFVS) - A semi truck fire had caused the closure of southbound lanes on Interstate 57.

Police in Marion, Illinois said the roadway is back open at the 49 mile marker as of 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31.

Illinois State Police (ISP) and Williamson County fire units were on the scene.

Marion Police say IDOT crews were working to clear the lanes of debris and equipment.

Officials said traffic in Marion may increase due to interstate rerouting at the Marion 53 mile post exit.

Alternate routes around the closure are offered at the Marion exits to Route 148.

Drivers are asked to drive safely.
