A election for the next Marion, IL mayor is set for April 2, 2019.

MARION, IL (KFVS) - A election for the next Marion mayor is set for April 2, 2019.

On Thursday, Dec. 27, the Marion city clerk confirmed the candidates on the ballot included Dennis Ball, Mike Absher, Anthony Rinella and Angel Hightower.

The City of Marion posted a pre-filing election notice for the mayoral race and city commissioner race. The filing dates were Dec. 10-17.

Anthony Rinella was sworn in as mayor on Thursday, February 1, 2018, taking the reigns from Bob Butler, one of the longest-serving mayors in the country.

A public hearing will be held on Wednesday, January 2 at 1:30 p.m. on an objection filed against mayor race candidate Dennis Ball.

At 1 p.m. on the same day, there will be a public hearing on objections filed against city commissioner race candidate Jason Powell.
