Local teachers react to Obama's education plan

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - President Obama's new education plan is sparking interest among parents and teachers across the Heartland.
Some of the popular topics, and controversial ones include....push for funding in the No Child Left Behind Act to be more effectively tied to results.
Another one is allowing schools to change to a merit system, meaning better teachers get rewarded.
Also, Obama would like to lengthen a student's time in the classroom.
While these may seem like great ideas on the surface, some folks in the Heartland were left wanting more specifics.
