MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - A local man doing some farm work got trapped under his machinery Thursday morning.
Mississippi County authorities say 54-year-old Walter Smoot was turning off of Highway 62 onto Route CC near Bertrand, when the terrigator-style machinery overturned.  A terrigator is a piece of equipment used to put down fertilizer.
Rescue workers say he got stuck in the cab and had to be cut out of the equipment.
Smoot was airlifted to a Memphis hospital where he was in serious condition Friday afternoon.
Mississippi County Sheriff's Department, Sikeston Department of Public Safety, and the Highway Patrol helped assist.
