Heavy snow hits parts of the Heartland and the Mid-South

A significant winter storm brought several inches of snow to western and southern counties of the Heartland Saturday and Saturday night.    About 4 to 12 inches of snow fell in a band stretching from central Missouri southeastward  across the Southern Ozark counties of Southeast Missouri and on across Northeast Arkansas,  the Missouri Bootheel and into Western Tennessee.....with authorities in Caruthersville reporting up to a foot of snow on the ground this morning.   Strong winds overnight also caused considerable drifting...and travel through much of the region, including along I-55 from the Bootheel into the Memphis area, was reported to be very hazardous Sunday morning.
