City of Herrin gets $100,000 grant

HERRIN, IL (KFVS) - The city of Herrin will get a $100,000 grant to upgrade some of the town's computer systems.
That includes the police department, fire department and in city hall.
Congressman Jerry Costello says the equipment and technology will keep folks safe.
"Also to make the public safety enhanced and have the public safety agencies and first responders have the necessary equipment to respond efficiently and quickly," Costello said.
The Herrin Fire Department plans to use its share of the grant money to install portbale laptops in its fire trucks.
