PADUCAH, Ky. - The Paducah city commission has hired a new police chief. According to Paducah's public information officer Pam Spencer, the commission voted to hire Charles "Chuck" Baker as the new chief.
Baker is currently the Patrol Division Commander for the Commerce City, Colorado Police Department. He should be on the job within the next 30 days. Until Baker takes over as police chief, Sandy Joslyn will continue as interim chief.
"He is a very competent, qualified individual," Paducah mayor Bill Paxton said at Saturday night's meeting. "We are convinced he is going to hit the ground running. There will not be a learning process to go through."
Baker thanked the Commission saying, "This is a great professional opportunity for me."
