LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The sister of an Indiana man suspected of shooting two police officers says she believes the man would have left the house peacefully during a police standoff.
April Datillo says her brother would have given up if officers had allowed a relative to walk him out.
Police say 37-year-old Robert Datillo fatally shot himself Friday at a relative's Louisville home about the time police began moving in after a 10-hour standoff.
Datillo was wanted in the shootings of Jeffersonville Cpl. Dan Lawhorn and Patrolman Keith Broady. The officers were ambushed at a Jeffersonville motel just north of the Ohio River from Louisville.
The two officers were in stable condition Sunday.
