By Heartland News & AP

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - Police arrested a person in connection with the cold case murder of a woman in 2007.

It's been a long two years of interviewing hundreds of people and following up on numerous leads for investigators with the Carbondale Police Department.

They arrested 24-year-old Elijah Lacy of Carbondale and charged him with first-degree murder.

Falon Taylor was shot and killed January 6, 2007 while sleeping in her home on Oak Street.

She had been fatally shot and the front door of the home was kicked in at the time of their arrival.

Now police say Lacy is just one of the suspects they allege is responisble for killing Falon Taylor.

Elijah Lacy is currently being held in the Jackson County Jail on a $1.5 million bond.

Police say their investigation isn't over with Lacy's arrest.  They expect to arrest more people in connection to Taylor's death.

Taylor's children, two boys now ages 4 and 3, are living with their grandparents.

It was not immediately clear whether Lacy has an attorney.
