Trash pickup, tree removal update for Metropolis residents

By Heartland News
METROPOLIS, IL (KFVS) -  The city of Metropolis requests residents place any trash in front of their home or driveway.
Starting on Monday the city will have dumpsters in several locations.
You can drop trash at the Girl Scout house, the vacant lot behind the fire station on Pearl and 8th Street, and the vacant lot next to Girard Street.
These dumpsters may be used by city residents for normal household waste only.
The commercial tree removal services must check in with the city of Metropolis' mayor's office before performing work.
All commercial tree removal services must remove or haul the tree limbs, trunks and debris.  It is against the law for commercial tree removal services to stack or pile such debris at the curb.
The city of Metropolis will allow commercial tree removal services to remove and haul their debris to the city's disposal site behind the city's dog pound free of charge.
