DIXON SPRINGS, Ill. (AP) - Illinois State Police and prison officials are trying to track down two inmates who escaped from a southern Illinois lockup.
Authorities say 30-year-old Eric Pepper and 18-year-old Milo Gibson bolted from the Dixon Springs-Impact Incarceration Program in rural Pope County shortly after 3 a.m. Monday.
Both men were sentenced out of Lee County, although details of their criminal backgrounds aren't immediately available.
The two were last seen wearing red sweat pants and sweat shirts, white tennis shoes and orange sock hats.
The program from which they fled is meant to treat first-time nonviolent offenders in a quasi-military prison environment.
Authorities are urging the public to remove keys from vehicles and ensure that their doors and windows are locked.
