Inaugural Ball to be held in Cape Girardeau

By Holly Brantley
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - They're calling it the event of the year. Tuesday Cape Girardeau will host the first ever Inaugural Ball, and ladies in on the planning promise it will rival any big city event.
"It's got everthing," said Carolyn Kluttz.
"I've never seen an election with such excitement," said Elma Staten.
Staten came up with the idea for a Ball.
"I just thought we needed something local to celebrate."
Monday evening Staten, and Kluttz gathered with Alice Jenkins, Maxine Montgomery, and Soni Lloyd to look at dresses and talk about last minute details.
"I still have to get my hair and my nails done," said Jenkins. "I feel like Cinderella."
"We've all had our lists," said Staten. "I still have arrangements to make, get myself ready, and other things."

They will arrive at the Drury Lodge early Tuesday morning to set up. Then in the evening, they celebrate.  There will be a five course meal, live music, and more.

"Tuesday's Inauguration will be Martin Luther King Jr.'s Dream come true," said Kluttz. "This is exciting."
The ball beings at 6:30pm Tuesday at the Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau. You will need a ticket to attend.
It's a black tie affair at the Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 6:30 p.m.  For ticket information call Mrs. Carolyn Kluttz at 573-979-5801.

RE:  Presidential Inaugural Ball Celebration
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
The election of President-Elect Barack Obama on November 4, 2008 has generated an unprecedented level of excitement about the Inauguration on January 20, 2009. In order to share in this historic event, a Presidential Inaugural Ball Celebration is scheduled for the Cape Girardeau area and surrounding region. This celebration is sure to be the event of the year.
The Inaugural Ball Celebration will take place at the Drury Lodge, located at I-55 and William Street, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at 6:30p.m. on January 20, 2009. The theme for the evening is "A Celebration of Change" and will feature addresses by a dynamic panel of speakers.
This is a black tie event, so take out that ball gown you have been dying to wear (or maybe you will have the added excitement of purchasing a new one) or plan on being the most handsome gentleman at the ball in your tuxedo.
Live music will be provided by Pat Schwent and Saxy Jazz, so you can just dance the night away.  Also, the celebration committee has planned a delectable five course dinner for you with hor d'oeuvres kept available throughout the evening.
Just imagine riding in your car to the ballroom entrance as the cool January night air chills you and your excitement builds.  Warmed by the thought of spending a delightful evening celebrating "change," you approach the ball to see a glorious entrance.  You are greeted by soft music. Your valet parking attendant stands ready to whisk your car away safely and beautifully attired hosts and hostesses stand ready to help you.  They open the ball entrance door and greet you warmly and from there a greeter escorts you into the ballroom where you relish the first taste of what is to come - an evening filled with treats, sights, and sounds that make you feel like a guest of honor.

You will not want to miss this wonderful celebration. For more information, please contact Mr. or Mrs. Ron Staten at rsttn@aol.com or Dr. or Mrs. Al Kluttz at 573-979-5801 or carolynkluttz@msn.com.

Sincerely,
The Presidential Inaugural Ball Celebration Planning Committee
