CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - A Carbondale police officer and another man face charges for alledgedly robbing the First Southern Bank in Carbondale on October 9, 2008 at gunpoint.

James D. Gaddis, 26, and Anthony Mitchell Fike, 35, face a felony charge of armed robbery.

James Gaddis is an officer with the Carbondale Police Department. 

According to Jackson County State's Attorney Michael Wepsiec, Gaddis, off duty at the time, alledgedly used some of his tools as a police officer during the robbery.

Gaddis has been placed on unpaid administrative leave.  He is in jail on on $1,000,000 bond.

Fike bonded out of jail Friday.

Police say two men walked into the bank and demanded money.  One of the men had a handgun and held the bank employees at gun point while the other took an undetermined amount of cash.
