Recycle your live Christmas trees

By Laura Wibbenmeyer
JACKSON, MO (KFVS) - The holidays are over and more and more Christmas trees continue to come down.
If you have yet to take your tree down, there are still places in need of live trees to help better the environment.
Jackson Recycling Center is collecting trees to help the erosion problems along creeks around the city.  In the spring, they will use the trees to help tackle that problem.  They also encourage folks to come out this spring and learn how to use the trees properly to help protect their land.
Also, Rend Lake in Benton, IL is taking trees through January 16th.  They can be dropped off at the Sugar Creek parking lot located at the intersection of Licata Road and Mine 24 Road or at the dam west boat ramp.  Donated trees will be bundled together and sunk in Rend Lake to creat underwater fish structures.
