Marion city leaders preparing to demolish old hospital

MARION, IL (KFVS) - The final call for a buyer may be long overdue for the old Marion city hospital.
Marion city leaders have spent the past few years trying to find a buyer for the city's old hospital.
The most recent party interrested in purchasing the old facility was Viamar Trading Company.
On Monday a company representative told the Marion City Council they still were having trouble getting money.
So now city leaders are preparing to take the next step.
"I think the council is about to decide to undertake the steps to demolish the hospital, rather then let it sit there and deteriorate over time," said Mayor Bob Butler.
Mayor Butler estimates it could cost as much as $400,000 to remove the old building.
The council could make their decision to bring the building down during next Monday's meeting.
