Take it Off Tuesday:  How to Lose 5 Lbs. by Christmas

Want to lose 5 pounds by Christmas?  Personal Trainer Shawn Taylor says it can be done, with a lot of committment to both fitness and eating well through the tempting parties and feasts.  Here is the Heartland's "Holiday Survival Guide"
First, Shawn says:
Tis' the season!  We're all out shopping so expect the parking lots to be full.  Park away from the entrances and pick up the pace when walking.  Make several trips to carry the packages.
Now more than ever is the time to adhere to your fitness plan as there will be invites to office parties, cookie, cake and pie exchanges and then some.  Pay strict attention to the change in your activities.  You're out shopping which means you're dining out.  Remember, frequent meals or since you know you're going to be out be prepared.
When considering your workout for the holidays, it's important to remember that a cardio style program may be more appropriate than resistance.  However, I've combined both worlds.
Begin and end each routine with a 10 minute stretching exercise.  Remember this is a minimum 50 calorie burn among other benefits.

When working the above fitness regimen, be sure to include a day of continuous activity.  A person can burn an additional 500 calories through the day just by staying active: toting and folding clothing, carrying bags, putting up dishes, moving boxes etc.  Be aware of your activity during the day and you will not only ward off those holiday lbs. but also decrease your weight by 5 lbs.

It is always a pleasure to train the Heartland's viewers of the Breakfast Show and remember if you have any questions regarding your fitness progress feel free to email me right here at the station.  fitnessguy@kfvs12.com
