Paducah Schools Say They're Better Than Reported

PADUCAH, Ky. - Paducah Public Schools are doing better than first reported.
State numbers for the district showed the progress made by Paducah students did not meet goals and that would mean state intervention for the district.
But, the state refigured the numbers using a new formula based on enrollment and that report shows adequate progress for each school in the district.
However, Assistant Superintendent Vickie Mayle says this doesn't mean the district plans to let up on its efforts.
Earlier this year, the district's reputation took another hit when Paducah Tilghman was labeled a "dropout factory" by Johns Hopkins researchers.
