PINCKNEYVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Veterans say they're not hip to a southern Illinois town's choice of "Woodstock" as a theme for its Mardi Gras parade this weekend.

Chuck Dobrinick of Pinckneyville's chamber of commerce says the theme for Saturday's parade was suggested by the public as a nod to the famous 1969 rock concert in New York.

But some veterans, notably those from the Vietnam War, associate the event with hippies, drugs and poor treatment of soldiers returning home from the war.

Darell Wolfe of the local American Legion calls it a slap in the face to every man who ever wore the uniform. But he says the legion still will serve as the parade's color guard.
