Claims About Deadly Gas Set Straight

You can't see it or smell it, but it's the second leading cause of lung cancer in America. It's the first cause of lung cancer among non-smokers. And it could be leaking into your home.
However, a recent series of commercials claims radon, a naturally occurring radioactive substance, is found in stone products like granite countertops.
"It's just a scare tactic," said Stuart Arthur, Co-Owner of Precision Granite & Marble. "Yes, there's a tiny amount, less than one-millionth in granite, but there's a lot more just in the air, water, and ground."
An environmental expert tells Heartland News he's never heard of a cancer death linked to granite counters. However, he's quick to point out people do need to have a radon test for their home for piece of mind.
