You can't see it or smell it, but it's the second leading cause of lung cancer in America.  It's the first cause of lung cancer among non-smokers.  And it could be leaking into your home.

However, a recent series of commercials claims radon, a naturally occurring radioactive substance, is found in stone products like granite countertops.

"It's just a scare tactic," said Stuart Arthur, Co-Owner of Precision Granite & Marble. "Yes, there's a tiny amount, less than one-millionth in granite, but there's a lot more just in the air, water, and ground."

An environmental expert tells Heartland News he's never heard of a cancer death linked to granite counters.  However, he's quick to point out people do need to have a radon test for their home for piece of mind.

For more information on radon, you can check out the EPA's site.
