Schemes to Smuggle Drugs into Prison Uncovered

STODDARD COUNTY, Mo. - Two schemes to smuggle drugs into the Missouri Correctional Center in Charleston have been intercepted by the Stoddard County sheriff's department.
A Kansas City woman was arrested after promising to pay a prison guard to smuggle marijuana into the Charleston prison. The guard was a confidential informant. Debra Y. Thomas, 52, of Kansas City is jailed in Bloomfield. She faces a Class B felony charge of distribution of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
The other case involves a Farmington man who delivered marijuana and meth to the prison guard. Robert Jones, 38, was arrested after driving away from the drug drop off. He faces a Class B felony charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Jones is being held in the Stoddard County Jail.
