SIKESTON, Mo. - Dust off your boots! It's rodeo time in Sikeston.
"It's a year long process," said Co-Chairman Ron Payne of the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo. "We've actually already started on 2008."
Over the course of the rodeo this week, more than 35,000 fans are expected to attend.
"It takes many man hours to prepare the grounds," said Payne. "We couldn't do it without the community."
Even on Sunday afternoon, plenty of folks stopped by the ticket office. They are open for business and busy!
"Better hurry and get your tickets," said Jessica Lenderman. She's been working in the ticket office as they prepare for things to get going on Wednesday.
Organizers are involved with the "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" program for the second year. "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" benefits the American Cancer Society.
"Last year we raised more than $15,000," said Payne. "This year we should reach beyond that."
