PERRY COUNTY, Mo. - Health officials warn people about the outbreak of viral meningitis.
There have been 14 confirmed cases of viral meningitis in Perry County, Missouri.
A spokesperson for the Perry County Hospital confirms 14 people contracted meningitis in less than a month.
We're told it's not uncommon for an outbreak to happen this time of year, especially because of the dry conditions and stagnant water.  Right now, officials haven't located the source of the problem.
Viral is the less serious form of meningitis.
You can prevent the spread by thorough handwashing and avoiding drinking or eating after other people.
