SEMO grad dies while serving in Iraq

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A St. Louis Army lieutenant is among four soldiers killed in a roadside bombing in Iraq.

The Defense Department identified the St. Louis man as 24-year-old First Lieutenant Daniel Riordan.

He and three others died Saturday when an improvised explosive device detonated near their vehicle in Taji. They were based at Fort Hood, Texas.

The others killed were 22-year-old Sergeant Joel House of Lee, Maine; 23-year-old Sergeant Jimy Malone of Wills Point, Texas; and 23-year-old Specialist Derek Calhoun of Oklahoma City.

The soldiers belonged to the First Cavalry Division's Second Battalion, Eighth Cavalry.
