CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. - Isle of Capri Casinos took over Casino Aztar Monday morning, after spending $45 million to buy the Caruthersville casino.
The company owns 16 casinos including two others in Missouri, one in Kansas City, and one in Booneville. The company is headquartered is in St. Louis.

Over the next six to eight months, company leaders say they will try to figure out what theme to make the casino. Right now, Isle of Capri Casinos have one of four themes, including a tropical theme, a 50's retro theme, and a railroad theme. "It is really understanding the market. We want the right brand for the Caruthersville Market," Roger Deaton said. Deaton is the Regional Vice President for Isle of Capri Casinos.

Deaton also says none of the almost 300 employees will lose their jobs in the transition. "We plan on keeping existing staff and promoting within. We don't see a reduction in staff," Deaton says. "There will be differences in town. But the jobs will remain, and revenue remains," Lyle Randolph said. He is the Director of Casino Operations.

That revenue adds up to $734,000 for the City of Caruthersville so far this year. The Casino has paid out more than three million dollars to the state this year as well.
