Developers want land swap for resort

PINCKNEYVILL, Ill. - Developers hoping to bring a Branson-style resort to Perry County, Illinois call it a win-win situation for both the environment and the economy.
Geri Boyer, a consultant for the Toney Watkins Company, tells Heartland News they are in talks with local environmental groups as they offer the state a land swap involving pyramid state park.
The company is buying 5500 acres of land near the park, most of which is owned by Knight Hawk Coal Company.
Toney Watkins would then offer up a portion of that land in exchange for the 2000 acres of park land needed for the first phase of the resort.
