JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Missouri's long-term care facilities must now have heat and smoke detectors.
Governor Matt Blunt signed a bill into law Friday.  The bill was a response to a November fire that killed 11 people at the Anderson Guest House in southwest Missouri.
The new law requires residential and assisted living facilities with more than 20 residents to install sprinkler systems by the end of 2012.  This provision exempts most facilities that lack sprinklers.
