JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The Isle of Capri will take over a casino in Caruthersville.
The state Gaming Commission Wednesday gave its approval to the Isle of Capri running the boat. The commission has been managing the casino since early January.
St. Louis-based Isle of Capri already agreed to buy the Casino Aztar in Southeast Missouri for about $45-million.
The new owner has two months to complete the deal. But Gaming Commission executive director Gene McNary says he expects it to be done in June, allowing the state supervisor to step aside.
The commission took over after the casino's new owner could not find an acceptable buyer by a November deadline.
