Forecasters tell residents along Gulf and East coasts to expect a busy hurricane season
By: Associated Press

WASHINGTON -- Government forecasters say people living along the East and Gulf coasts need to be ready for a busier-than-normal hurricane season.
National Weather Service forecasters say they expect 13 to 17 tropical storms, with 7 to 10 of them becoming hurricanes.
The forecast follows that of two other leading storm experts in anticipating a busy season.
The National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration says the likelihood of above-normal hurricane activity is 75%.
Earlier this month, a research associate at Colorado State University and the chief hurricane forecaster for AccuWeather said they also anticipated a more active storm cycle.
June 1 is the official beginning of hurricane season, and it ends November 30th.
