Bright Object in the Sky
By: John Dissauer

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- You might have noticed the bright object in the sky next to the moon Saturday night.  We took several calls in the newsroom Saturday evening.
No, it is not a star nor a UFO.  In fact, it is a planet.  Venus to be more exact.
According to Space.com, this week will be interesting for skywatchers.  Four of the five visible planets will be easily seen about 45 minutes after sundown.
Venus will be the most obvious.  The solar system's second planet will be 13 times brighter than the brightest star in the sky.
An interesting note about Venus... During World War II, aircraft spotters sometimes mistook the planet as an enemy aircraft.
The other planets that will be visible this week are: Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury.
